This charming vintage embroidery is the work of Jain nuns from Rajasthan, and features the eight symbols of good luck. Jainism is an ancient religion which has at its core the interconnectedness of all living things, and pursues a philosophy of non-violence in all aspects of daily life.
The embroidery is predominantly (and typically) chain stitch, over a soft felted red background. There is some wear on the threads on one side.
The piece is displayed in a limed white box frame, size is 48cm wide x 55cm deep.
